Gangtok, September 8: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Sikkim, Mr Raj Kumar Yadav, IAS, Monday addressed a press briefing on the Final Electoral Roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026, at the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Baluwakhani. The briefing was held in the presence of Secretary, Printing and Stationery Department and Observer for Gyalshing and Soreng districts, Mr AB Karki, IAS, and officials of the Election Department.
The Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls, 2026, was conducted in Sikkim in compliance with the instructions of the Election Commission of India, with July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date.
Prior to the commencement of SIR, the State had a total of 4,71,018 electors, comprising 2,35,572 males, 2,35,444 females and two third-gender electors.
As part of the SIR exercise, Enumeration Forms (EFs) were generated and distributed to all existing electors through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across the State. Of the total forms distributed, 4,33,242 (91.99 per cent) were received back, while 37,737 (8.01 per cent) were not received. The electors whose forms were not received were identified under the categories of Deceased, Absent/Untraceable, Permanently Shifted, Already Enrolled/Duplicate and Others. The category-wise breakup comprised 10,837 deceased electors, 8,648 absent/untraceable electors, 14,603 permanently shifted electors, 2,396 already enrolled/duplicate electors and 1,253 under other categories.
The draft electoral roll was published on July 5, 2026, containing 4,33,294 electors, comprising 2,18,507 males, 2,14,785 females and two third-gender electors. Of the total electors in the Draft Roll, 3,61,159 (83.35 per cent) were mapped with their own or their parents’ electoral details of the previous qualifying electoral roll/last SIR, as applicable, while 72,135 (16.65 per cent) remained unmapped. Among the mapped electors, 52,384 were identified as cases of Logical Discrepancies (LD) by the Election Commission’s IT system.
A total of 1,24,519 notices were issued under the unmapped and Logical Discrepancy categories.
