Gangtok:Aug: Pema Dorjee Bhutia ,the Iron Man of Sikkim will soon be joining Jeewan Giri,now Iron Man of Nepal in Kazakhstan for Strength lifting Championship.
Jeewan Giri,is the athlete who was given the befitting title of ‘Iron Man’,in Mangan North Sikkim by Chairman SIMFED Tenzing Dorjee ,the Chief Guest at the -;.
Jeewan is the founder of Strength Lifting as a sport in Nepal.Inspired to get into it himself , while on a visit to India he was advised to meet Sikkim’s Chief Coach Pema Bhutia
Pema instructed Jeewan in Kapilvastu,Bhadrapur and some other places in Nepal.Although Giri was a Power Lifting and Body Building athlete he learnt Strength Lifting and inclined Bench Press game from Pema Bhutia.
The Iron Man of Nepal,Giri has now reached the highest level and is a renowned figure worldwide.
In 1999 he was honoured with the title ‘ Vishvadharmashree’-Mr South Asia.The hardworking man who had started after meeting B.dada who advised him to form a federation in Nepal.And meet Pema Bhutia from Sikkim,is now mentoring many youths.He has been contributing to their empowerment and preventing them from adopting harmful unhealthy ways of life
Giri,was invited to UK for the event he has expertise in and raising the image of Nepal in the World .
Jeewan Giri,honoured with ‘Pradesh Ratna’ in Nepal ,has been serving as a huge inspiration to many in Nepal
He has been recognised as the International Refree of SL. And has caused the game to spread across Nepal.(NN)
