Gangtok 5,th Sept: CM PS Tamang addressing the State level Teacher’s day prog here today ,said as a former teacher himself, he understands closely the dedication, sacrifices and challenges that come with the noble profession of teaching. He paid homage to pioneering teachers, parents and villagers who laid the foundations of education in Sikkim.
‘Many donated land to establish schools, conducted night classes and taught children despite limited resources and, at times, without remuneration.,he added and stated that their unwavering faith in education continues to inspire and that today’s teachers are the proud custodians of that legacy of sacrifice, service and dedication’.
‘Since 2019, our Government has regarded education not as an expenditure, but as the most important investment in the human capacity of Sikkim. With approximately 15 percent of the State’s total expenditure invested in education during 2025–26, we remain firmly committed to our vision of making Sikkim an Education Hub and building a Sunaulo, Samriddha ani Saamarth Sikkim,’CM said further.
CM Tamang ,highlighted that Sikkim’s declaration as a Fully Literate State on 27 May 2026 marks an important milestone in educational journey, and the significant improvement in examination results, with the Class X pass percentage rising from 68 percent in 2019 to 84.24 percent and the Class XII pass percentage from 80.07 percent to 90.84 percent.
