Gangtok: 5th July :Ecclesiastical Affairs Minister Ven.Sonam Lama gave away Trophy and prizes to the winning Sichey Maverick Team at Single Elimination 5 Star Knockout Championship 2026.Minister Lama , the Chief Guest at the Archery finals held at Navey Sotak Penlong,on Sunday gave prize to runners up team TAC Red,also.
Minister Lama ,also the President of Sikkim Archery Association,has been promoting the
traditional archery, sportsmanship team spirit and community participation.Archery Tournament organised by Thupden & Bhaichung in association with Sikkim Archery Asdociation,was appreciated by public for being held in a village ,was a good entertainment also.
The programme was attended by OSD to Ecclesiastical Department, Palden Barfungpa, as the Guest of Honour. Also present were Auney Tshring Bhutia, brother of the Minister and other Archery fans,with many rural people.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sonam Lama ‘appreciated the organizers for successfully conducting the championship and highlighted the importance of preserving traditional archery while encouraging youth participation in sports.’
Minister said that ‘such tournaments strengthen community bonds, promote healthy competition, and help preserve Sikkim’s rich sporting and cultural heritage.’
Minister Ven Sonam Lama ,congratulated all the 15 participating teams for their dedication and competitive spirit. He also presented trophies and prizes to the outstanding performers, congratulating the Winning Team Sichey maverick and the Runner-up Team TAC Red( his team) for their remarkable performances,’according to authorities.
