Gangtok:15th July:Forests & Environment, and Mines & Geology,Minister Pintso Namgyal Lepcha,has taken an inspirational step toward supporting the Sikkim’s rich natural heritage. In a generous gesture Minister ,Pintso Namgyal Lepcha stepped forward to adopt “Dokhbu,” one of younger Red Panda males under the Red Panda Conservation Breeding Program in the Himalayan Zoological Park at Bulbuley, contributing ₹20,000/- toward his care.
Dokhbu , was born in the first litter after a 7 year breeding drought, bringing hope to the HZP, and was aptly named for the Guardian or Keeper of the Lepcha community- a quiet presence, but ever watchful over the forest he protects.
The Himalayan Zoological Park has extended its deepest, gratitude to Minister Pintso Namgyal Lepcha. Forest Minster ,joins a collective vision deeply rooted in the guidance and support of Chief Minister, P.S. Tamang (Golay). It is the Chief Minister’s steadfast commitment to the environment that has placed Sikkim on the global conservation map, inspiring initiatives like “My Child from Wild” launched in June 2024.
