Gangtok:14th July: Sikkim Govt has done a wonderful job through Gangtok Municipal Corporation. Earlier , while travelling on NH-10 a stretch of road use to stink badly.But now it has been controlled!
According to Tshering Palden ,Mayor Gangtok Municipal Corporation,’The dumping yard in Martam,has been converted to Wellness place. We have a waste treatment facility. Cleaning has been done. We have a landfill facility. 80% of the yard has been converted to wellness’. Mayor was speaking at Mahila Van Sammelan. And the way GMC has been serving the State for keeping the environment & atmosphere clean.
Mayor ,added that CM PS Tamang has suggested having Orchard there So we are also planting fruit trees.The dumping yard has become so clean that while working over there GMC team could have lunch on the spot also.’Shw also mentioned orher major environment related activities beong carried out by Corporation,including public awareness,plantation drive,controlling plastic and working to conserve forests.
