Gangtok:25 Aug: VC Khanchenjungha State University Ashis Sharma ,joined by author of ‘Kalo Bhari’ ,SD Dhakal and Translator of the book Associate Prof Dr Satyadeep Chettri made ‘ Black Burden, public in a local hotel on Monday.
VC Sharma addressing the gathering stated hw has always been telling rhe concerned in Iniversity that writing about local events, translatoon of locally written books should be given importance. He appreciated and lauded both the author for having written in Nepali and Prof for translating it in English.
A discussion on the book was conducted by Diwaker Basnet and participated in ,by Civil Servant ,SD Dhakal with Prof Satyadeep .
Bhanu Awardee Dhakal ( author of many books)spoke about his research on the Kalo Bhari and mentioned different sources consulted including Dr Hitler’s farher who happened to have faight in 2nd World War.The elderly authenticated the oppression caused by carrying loads to Yatung in Tibet,that to without wages.The forced labour that too when no vehicles were there .
As Kalo Bhari was the part of trade system earlier and has hardly been mentioned in history books,Dhakal said he decided to pen down .
Dr Chettri describing challenging task he has accomplished said he had started in 2005 and has come up with finally translated book now.He tried his best toake it palatable to readers,without changing the facts given in Nepali by the aurhor.
The Black Burden is available for sale and is a must read book.
