Kolkata:3rd July: Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly ,Mingma Norbu Sherpa along with Secretary Sikkim Legislative Assembly Lalit Kumar Gurung, attended the inaugural session of the two days orientation program organized for newly elected members of the 18th Legislative Assembly of West Bengal Assembly organised jointly by West Bengal Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE) of Lok Sabha.
The two day program was inaugurated by Om Birla, Speaker, Lok Sabha in presence of Kiren Rijiju Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs & Minority Affairs, Suvendu Adhikari Chief Minister, West Bengal, Harivansh, Deputy Chairperson, Rajya Sabha, Ritabrata Banerjee, Leader of Opposition West Bengal Legislative Assembly and Rathindra Bose, Speaker, West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
Speaker , Mingma Norbu Sherpa also co-chaired the technical session on the topic “ Financial Business and Budgetary Process in Parliament”.
In addition, the meeting of the “Committee of Presiding Officers to Review the Committee System” was also convened. The meeting comprised of Narendra Singh Tomar, Speaker,Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly who is also the Chairman of the Committee, Vasudev Devnani , Speaker, Rajasthan Legislative Assembly; Satish Mahana , Speaker, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Kuldeep Singh Pathania , Speaker, Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Smt. Surama Padhy , Speaker, Odisha Legislative Assembly. The committee adopted the final report of the “Committee of Presiding Officers to Review the Committee System”.
