BJP Sikkim Delegation Visits Shivalik Company Office Over Public Concerns on Makha–Dikchu Road

Gangtok: 20th May:A BJP Sikkim delegation today visited the office of the Shivalik Company engaged in the construction of the Makha–Dikchu road widening project to understand the challenges in implementation and strongly raise the genuine concerns of the people affected by the present road conditions.The delegation led by BJP Sikkim General Secretary Dinesh Nepal, included State Secretary Niren Bhandari, Gangtok District President Pempo Lepcha, Constituency Incharge Purna Kumar Neopaney, Executive Passang Gyali Sherpa, Mandal President -Prem Chettri, along with party Karyakartas.
During the interaction, the delegation highlighted critical public issues including poor road conditions, hardships faced by commuters, damages to houses in affected areas, transportation difficulties of school-going children, and damage to the traditional irrigation channel from Tumin Khola to Barang affecting local farmers.
The company assured the delegation that road maintenance and mud clearance works would be undertaken to ensure smoother vehicular movement within the next 10 days. The delegation also requested transport arrangements for school students, to which the company assured necessary support.
‘Considering the gravity of public concerns, BJP Sikkim will shortly meet the District Collector, Gangtok District, seeking a joint inspection involving the District Administration, Shivalik Company, BRO, local Panchayats, representatives of political parties, affected citizens, and community representatives to ensure timely relief, accountability, and resolution of the issues faced by the people,’according to BJP Sikkim .
