Gangtok:4th July: Poet Suchan Pradhan , awarded Dr Shobha Kanti Thegim , Lepcha Smriti Purushkar, here on Saturday . The award was presented by the Chief Guest Minister Roads & Bridges NB Dahal at the programme hosted by the SKMTrust . The award carried a citation, shawl and Rs 50 Thousand.The awardee is a member of faculty in Kanchenjunga University ,here.)
Addressing the gathering Minister,said ‘ the seniors have been contributing a lot to literature,playing their role ,but now the youth should take it forward. It is our identity. ‘
‘Minister appreciated the way Dup Tshering Lepcha husband of late Dr Shobha Kanti was continuing the Memorial award in her name for so long,having awarded 29 literary persons till today.
Earlier,the Minister and others offered garland at the portrait of late Dr Thegim.
The awardee thanked the Trustees and Dup Tshering Lepcha who was represented by his son Saurabh Lepcha duw to ill health of his father today.
Ranjana Karki recited a poem by late Thegim .K Lama recited a self composed poem. Prof R Poudyal , appreciated the SKT L Trust , which he said was contributing to encouragement of writers poets . And also promoting Literature. He expressed hope that it will progress a lot in future.
2 Minutes silence was observed to pay tribute to late Architect Kiran Rasaily.
All the trustees were present. Trustees Journalist Joseph Lepcha , Associate Prof Udai Chettri delivered introductory speeches in brief.While Trustee Pradyuman Shrestha,welcomed the guests
