Gangtok:20thAug: Commemorating the historic Nepali Language Recognition ,Nepali Sahitya Parishad Sikkim ,held a programme here today.Former Prez of Sikkim Akademy SR Subba ,was the Chief Guest at the function held at Nepali Sahitya. Parishad.Nepali language has been included in the Eight schedule of Indian Constitution after a long movement for the same.
Chief Guest Subba presented the award of the day Kanchenjungha Agam Smriti Puruskar to litterateur KB Nepali from Assam .Chief Guest was joined by Hari Dhungel President Nepali Sahitya Parishad giving the Citation.
Awardee writer KB Nepali expressed gratitude for it.He has many books to his credit .
Former Radio anchor Usha Sharma presented an enlightening talk on Constitutional recognition of Nepali Language and present Status.She traced the history from Padari Ganga Prasad to MP Dil Kumari ,Late CM NB Bhandari ,Ratanlal Brahman( Darj) and many others
The programme was marked by dance performance by the artists from Enlighten academy and Brihaspati Parsai School Two budding girl poets presented self composed poems.
NESAP also honoured Rachna Rai Sikkim University, the students with exceptional academic achievements in Nepali Language, 2025 last semester .She was given Premlal Smriti Puruskar in the presence of the late Premlal family.
Earlier,Bhim Rawat General Secretary NESAP welcomed the guests while later DR Giri proposed the vote of thanks.
