SDF ATTENDS 16th NATIONAL VOTERS’ DAY IN NEW DELHI
Gangtok:25th Jan:On the occasion of National Voters’ Day, members of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) attended the national-level programme in New Delhi on behalf of Pawan Chamling, Party President, Sikkim Democratic Front. The 16th National Voters’ Day programme, organised by the Election Commission of India, was held at the Zorawar Auditorium, Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi.
The SDF was represented at the programme by Ms Komal Chamling, V.P. In-charge, Women’s Wing, and Mr Dipen Rai, General Secretary, Press, Publicity and Social Media.
The programme, held under the theme “My Vote, My India,” was chaired by the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu. During the programme, the vital role of the Election Commission of India in safeguarding the democratic foundations of the nation was emphasised, along with the importance of free, fair, and transparent elections. The discussions reinforced the centrality of informed and ethical voter participation in strengthening democratic institutions—an ethos that has long guided the political philosophy of the Sikkim Democratic Front.
The SDF reaffirms its enduring commitment to democratic values, constitutional principles, and people-centric governance, believing that the power of the vote remains the most effective instrument for protecting the rights, aspirations, and dignity of citizens. The party continues to advocate for heightened voter awareness and active civic engagement as essential pillars of a vibrant and accountable democracy.
Other dignitaries present at the programme included Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice, Shri Gyanesh Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner of India, along with Dr S. S. Sandhu, Election Commissioner of India and Dr Vivek Joshi, Election Commissioner of India.
