SORENG DISTRICT POLICE SEIZE CONTRABAND SUBSTANCES
Soreng : 3rd Nov : The ongoing war against drug abuse in West Sikkim , saw the Nayabazar Police Station under District Police here ,successfully intercepting one WagonR taxi bearing registration number SK06T/0337 near Sikip Phatak along the Jorethang–Reshi State Highway, and apprehended one individual , who was found in possession of contraband substances. The interception took place at around 1800 hours on November 3, 2025,’ according to Soreng Police.
During the search of the vehicle conducted by police officers in the presence of Mr. Dilip Dong, MEO, NJMP Jorethang–Nayabazar, and local Gram Panchayat members, the following items were recovered and seized from the possession of the accused:
• 288 (two hundred and eighty-eight) blue-coloured Winspasmo Forte capsules
• 99 (ninety-nine) N10 tablets
• 6 (six) bottles of I/Koff cough syrup
• Cash amounting to ₹43,330/- (Rupees forty-three thousand three hundred and thirty only)
Accordingly, a case under relevant provisions of the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act, 2006 (SADA) has been registered at Nayabazar Police Station and is presently under active investigation.
It is further informed that the accused (though the Police has revealed name and address,yet news hut has withheld as per norms).
is a known habitual drug peddler, who had been under constant surveillance by Soreng District Police for some time. He has been arrested, and the contraband substances along with the vehicle used in the offence have been duly seized.
The Soreng District Police reiterates its firm commitment to making the district drug-free and urges every member of the civil society to actively cooperate and join hands in this collective fight against the menace of drug abuse.
