SKM Shifts Displaced Families into Temporary Shelters -Before Festival
Over a 10-day sprint, party cadres and community volunteers constructed 13 temporary shelter units through dedicated Shramdaan (voluntary labor).
The Rimbi landslide, which initially triggered in August and took a destructive turn on the night of September 24, caused extensive property damage and displaced approximately 50 families. While victims had since been residing across various government and community relief camps, the swift handover ensures that affected families can now celebrate Dashain in secure, individual shelter units rather than crowded relief centers.
The shelter sheds were officially handed over to the beneficiary families by Advisor (DAC) and President of the SKM District Level Panchayat wing (Gyalshing), Ashok Pradhan. The handover took place in the presence of Chairpersons Shri Tashi T. Bhutia, Smt. Shanti Subba, and Shri Sanjay Dilpali Rai,with many others .
According to Ranjana Pradhan ,( Prez SKM Press & Publicity)The successful execution of Mission Rebuild Rimbi underscored the party’s grassroots responsiveness and commitment to standing by citizens during times of natural adversity.’
