Singtam:14th June: Police here has Intensified Anti-Drug Drive; One Drug Peddler had been arrested with 13.25Grams of Brown Sugar,today.
Singtam Police continues its proactive approach towards maintaining law and order and creating a safer, drug-free society through effective patrolling, surveillance and community-oriented policing.
Following the introduction of electric scooter patrolling in identified hotspot areas of Singtam, regular patrolling and area domination have been strengthened around locations such as Walkway, Goskhan Dara and adjoining areas to prevent illegal activities and enhance public safety.
During one such vigilant patrolling operation, led by PI Kishor Kumar Chettri, along with team members Lnk Birkha Chettri, Lnk Elan Gurung, NK Deepak Pokhrel and SA Sandip Dahal, Singtam Police successfully apprehended one suspected drug peddler namely Chandra Bahadur Subba, aged 29 years, son of Ashok Kumar Subba, resident of Temi Namphing Reshep, near Shinga Devi Mandir, Dalep, South Sikkim.
While being questioned, the accused attempted to flee towards a nearby jungle area. However, due to the prompt response, courage and coordinated action of the police team, he was chased and apprehended near Kali Khola below the Teesta River area.
On conducting a search, 13.25grams of suspected brown sugar was recovered from his possession. The seized substance was taken into custody as per legal procedure in the presence of SDM Rabdang, Shri Suren Tamang.
Accordingly, a case under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Singtam Police Station and further investigation is underway.
The successful operation reflects the commitment, dedication and proactive policing approach of Singtam Police towards controlling the drug menace and protecting the younger generation from substance abuse.
