
CM PS Tamang Writes to Union Home Minister about Khangchendzonga expedition from Nepal
Gangtok,27th May: Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressing deep concern over the recent scaling of Mount Khangchendzonga by a NIMAS team from the Nepal side.
In his letter, Chief Minister has highlighted the religious sanctity of the mountain for the people of Sikkim and urged the Government of India to take up the matter with the Government of Nepal.
CM has emphasized the need to ensure that no future expeditions are permitted from any side, in deference to the spiritual and cultural beliefs of the Sikkimese people.
Earlier,Sikkim Bhutia Lepcha Apex Committee,(SIBLAC) had objected to the expedition and requested Govt to ensure no such thing happens in future.
