Gangtok:25th June:A coordination meeting of of Lepcha organizations of Sikkim was recently held at the Kurmomlee Development Area, Gangtok, with the participation of representatives from Renjyong Mutanchi Rong Tarjum (RMRT), Renjyong Mutanchi Ringmom Kurmom (RMRK), and the Sikkim Lepcha Youth Association (SLYA).
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Ren Kunga Nima Lepcha, Working President of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party and Political Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister. The gathering was also graced by the presence of senior bureaucrats, Chief Executive Members of district branches of Lepcha associations, and members representing Lepcha civil society.
The meeting served as an important platform for dialogue and coordination among the participating organizations, with the objective of strengthening unity, enhancing cooperation, and collectively addressing matters concerning the welfare and development of the Lepcha community.
Apart from discussions on maintaining stronger coordination and cooperation among the three organizations, the meeting also witnessed the formation of an apex body named Renjyong Mutanchi Rong Tarjum (Sikkim Lepcha Association) Central Executive Body, along with the induction of several new executive members. This development was viewed as a significant step towards strengthening the organizational structure and enhancing collective participation in activities and initiatives undertaken for the welfare of the Lepcha community.
Giving his approval to the newly formed Chief Executive Committee (CEC) of RMRT, the Chairman of the programme, Ren Kunga Nima Lepcha, extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Team RMRT. He urged the newly constituted apex body to work for the betterment of the community with renewed zeal, dedication, and passion.
In historic special address, he further emphasized the need for all Lepcha associations and members of Lepcha civil society to collectively work towards capacity building for the coming generation. He assured the gathering of his full support and guidance in initiatives aimed at empowering the community and strengthening its future prospects.
During the deliberations, participants discussed issues relating to the preservation and promotion of Lepcha identity, language, culture, traditions, and broader socio-economic concerns of the community. The gathering emphasized the need for collective responsibility and coordinated efforts to address emerging challenges and opportunities concerning the Lepcha people.
The participating organizations reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the interests and aspirations of the Lepcha community and highlighted the importance of maintaining continuous dialogue and cooperation among all stakeholders. Representatives also stressed that stronger institutional coordination and community participation would play a crucial role in ensuring the following preservation of Lepcha heritage and the sustainable progress of the community.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with a collective understanding that unity, cooperation, and shared responsibility are fundamental to strengthening the social and cultural fabric of the Lepcha community.
