Gangtok:25th June: BJP Sikkim Mahila Morcha President and Gangtok Municipal Councillor Smt. Srijana Chettri today called on Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annapurna Devi at her residence in New Delhi and held a detailed discussion on various women-centric welfare and development initiatives for Sikkim.
According to Sikkim State BJP, ‘During the meeting, Smt. Chettri highlighted the need for greater awareness and effective implementation of flagship schemes of the Ministry like Women Helpline, and initiatives for women’s safety, empowerment, nutrition, and livelihood generation. She also discussed the scope for extending suitable schemes and programmes to urban and municipal areas to benefit women, children, and vulnerable sections of society.’
Smt. Chettri apprised the Minister of various challenges faced by women in Sikkim and sought enhanced support from the Ministry for safety of women, capacity building, skill development, entrepreneurship, and social welfare interventions.
She further extended a cordial invitation to the Hon’ble Minister to visit Sikkim and interact with women beneficiaries, stakeholders, and strengthening Mahila Morcha organisation.
The visit, she noted, would help promote women-oriented programmes in the State and further strengthen grassroots engagement and women’s empowerment initiatives.
‘The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the Minister assuring continued support and cooperation for the welfare and empowerment of women and children in Sikkim.’
