MP Raju Bista ,Darjeeling , in a communique has stated that , he has attended another round of talks, chaired by Sh. Nityanand Rai ji, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs (N).
‘Once again, disrespecting the federal structure the West Bengal Government failed to attend the meeting. Hence, the talks, which lasted for over one and half hours continued without them, involving the Union government, and the representatives from Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars.’
‘The focus of the talks was the history of our region, the current status of deprivation, discrimination, exploitation faced by the people, and the future possibilities. We also highlighted the need for expediting the 11 left-out Gorkha sub-tribes issue. The discussions were centered on various forms of solutions under the Constitution of India. We have taken a united stand that the only acceptable solution would be the one that fulfills our aspirations and grants constitutional protection to our land, people and the region.’
‘Hon’ble Minister Sh. Nityanand Rai ji said that the Central Government is desirous and committed to a dialogue led solution, respecting the existing federal structure. He assured the delegation that the central government will fulfill the aspirations of the people through a constitutional solution. He further said that given our inputs further actions will follow after due consultation with the Hon’ble Union Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah ji.’
‘The Gorkha delegation comprised of GNLF Chief Mann Ghising ji, GJM Chief Bimal Gurung ji, CPRM President J.B.
