Stray Animals Day observed in Gangtok
Gangtok,4th April :Animals lovers observed the Stray Animals Day,at MG Marg here ,on Friday.Former Chairperson Khadi Board Chung Chung Bhutia attended as the Chief Guest and Sandip Malu Councillor GMC attended as the Special Guest.The were joined by other dignitaries.
Chief Guest felicitated animal lovers who have been working for the welfare of stray dogs, particularly.Addressing the gathering she said,she was really impressed by the talks delivered by the speakers and it made her think if she should continue to have meat .She appreciated the idea of feeding animals.
Vaishali Golay,urged the gathering to adopt stray dogs – cats .if not at least feed them.She said,’ it is our responsibility.We should change the way we look at the animals.
Vaishali,said the Stray Dog Day is significant,it’s not just a calendar day ,but a chance for us to reflect on what can be done by us for the animals.We as humans can be kind to them,give them shelter and food ‘
Jigme Ladakhi,also doing a lot for stray dogs,urged the gathering to be kind to animals.He appealed to Councillor Malu to allow them to provide certain facilities to Dogs at MG Marg and other places.( Feeding dogs and birds is not permitted here).
RTO Motorola Vehicles,also delivered a talk about being good to animals,even while driving.And not to ignore any animal injured or hit by the vehicle being driven .One should stop and take the animal to vet hospital and save life.’
Many animal lovers expressed their views.Gangtok mostly has many stray dogs in town, wild monkeys though living in town no but no cows so the focus was mainly on Dogs.
World Stray Animals Day is observed on 4th April to raise awareness about the problems faced by them and need for help from human beings.
