Governor of Sikkim OP Mathur ,the Chief Guest,in his inaugural address,at Sikkim@50,Golden Jubilee Conclave, referred to the very important challenges being faced,here.He was speaking at the Conclave hosted by the Press Club of Sikkim led by Bhim Rawat and Information & Public Relations Deptt headed by Secretary,Annapurna Alley’.
‘The National Highway 10 ,is being repaired fast.Earlier,it was under West Bengal but since it has been handed over to National Highway Development Authority of India they have been working hard to restore it. The natural calamity poses a huge challenge there,’said Gov.
Governor Mathur, acknowledged the need of proper land and air connectivity.’ I met the Aviation Minister last time when I was in Delhi.And have asked him to arrange for making the Pakyong airport functional Once it’s done the tourists will also find it easy’.
Governor,appreciated the theme of panel discussion.He said, investing in Sikkim, encouraging tourism further with achievements were the ideas rightly proposed to be discussed( post- inaugural session).
Governor mentioned the latest situation in the country and urged media to focus on such issues also for the benefit of public.But,he suggested particularly to Social Media , that wrong reporting should not be done ( State has more than 80% Social Media ).
It is to be mentioned here that ,recently,at national level during the Indo-Pak border tension certain Social Media channels were allegedly concocting news !
