Gangtok:29th June:(Nita Nirash) ‘The road repairing work along the Chandmari Goskhan Dara has begun under the guidance of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang. The work started today in the presence of Area MLA Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, Ward Councillor . Chungkeila Lepcha and officials from BRO. The public of Chandmari including the Area MLA Lamtha have expressed deep gratitude to the Chief Minister along with Minister for Roads and Bridges Department N.B Dahal for promptly addressing the concerns of the public and commuters, according to information received .
In the meantime as per the communique from Bharatiya Janata Party, Sikkim, theu have also welcomed the commencement of maintenance work on the Chandmari–Goshkhan Dara Road by the 758 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) and had expressed its sincere gratitude to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and GREF for honouring the assurance given to the party delegation.
‘On 8 June 2026, under the direction of BJP Sikkim State President D.R. Thapa and District President Pempo Dorjee Lepcha, a BJP delegation led by Ms. Rajani Gurung met the Commanding Officer of 758 BRTF and submitted a representation highlighting the poor condition of the road and the hardships faced by commuters. The Commanding Officer assured the delegation that maintenance work would begin after the completion of school examinations, as requested by the local public representative.’
With the work now underway, a BJP delegation led by State Secretary Sangay Pulger, along with Smt. Rajani Gurung and other party members, visited the site and conveyed gratitude to the BRO officials on behalf of BJP and the people of Chandmari.
BJP Sikkim believes its timely intervention and consistent follow-up helped expedite action on this long-pending public issue.
