*BJP Team Led by Spokesperson Sangay Gyatso Bhutia Makes Second Visit to Pakyong ADC Office, Demands Transparent Re-verification of Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana Beneficiary List and request joint inspection with BJP team to uphold public trust in the government.*
Pakyong, – A delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Party Spokesperson Shri Sangay Gyatso Bhutia, visited the Additional District Collector (ADC) Development Office in Pakyong District on Monday ,to follow up on the highly contentious issue of beneficiary selection for the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY).
This visit marks the second formal meeting with the ADC {Development} since the BJP team first raised the matter on September 25, 2025.
During their initial visit on September 25, the BJP team had formally informed the concerned officer that the process of selecting beneficiaries for the SGAY appeared to be non-transparent and heavily influenced by political intervention. The BJP had, at that time, requested the ADC to immediately intervene, uphold public justice, and initiate a thorough re-verification of the entire beneficiary list.
As the BJP has not received any official intimation regarding action taken on the matter, nor has the issue been addressed publicly in the media, the team was compelled to make a second visit today.
In the meeting, Shri Sangay Gyatso Bhutia and the team members once again apprised the ADC of the earlier representation and underscored the severe injustice being meted out to genuinely needy and deserving citizens who are being overlooked. The delegation also pointed out structural shortcomings within the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojna that need urgent administrative attention.
To ensure that the poorest of the poor receive the intended benefits, the BJP team today reiterated and strengthened its demands:
1. Immediate and Time-Bound Re-verification: The ADC’s office must commit to a thorough, on-the-ground re-verification of the SGAY beneficiary list within a strict timeframe.
2. Joint Inspection for Transparency: The BJP demanded a joint physical inspection of the beneficiary claims on the ground, inviting the BJP team to be a part of the verification process.
Shri Sangay Gyatso Bhutia stated, “Our demand for a joint inspection is crucial. It will ensure fairness is visible in the eyes of the public and will help restore public trust in the government’s commitment to justice.”
The BJP team assured the ADC’s office of their full cooperation, confirming their availability anytime they are contacted for the joint inspection and verification process. The party remains committed to ensuring that the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana fulfills its mission of providing housing for the truly impoverished, free from political bias, according to publicity wing BJP Sikkim.
