Ram Patro Memorial Awardee ’26, for Excellence in Journalism, Amber Gurung , Bureau Chief Himalaya Darpan, shared his experience, here today. He was presented the award by Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, at the RPM Award Ceremony hosted by Sikkim Express, the media house , Sikkim,observing the anniversary of its Late founding editor Ram Patro,coinciding with Golden Jubilee of Sikkim Express.
Amber Gurung,having 22 years in the profession to his credit, said, ,’We have seen many ups and down in media on the whole.Thave been many changes and we have been serving accordingly.Now it has been changing to digital era.’
‘ We as journalists should use our brain and not emotional part while doing work.Always to begin with we need to differentiate between facts and fake information.’
Gurung having many accolades – awards to his credit so far shared his joy at receiving RPM Award today .He said,’ I am happy today to recive an award instituted in the name of a journalist ( Late Ram Patro),who made a road map of jpurnalism in the State in 1976 .And happy also as the award given to me is from journalists selection done by journalists I feel there is no happier moment ,full of pride for me than this one.’
Amber Gurung expressed gratitude to the Award Committee Chairperson Mala Rana Patro,Editor Amit Patro and Mrs Shyama Patro.
