Darjeeling :16th May: MP Darjeeling Raju Bista attended ‘ a constructive and forward-looking review meeting’ in the presence of the MLAs of Darjeeling District – from Darjeeling, Kurseong, Siliguri, Matigara-Naxalbari, and Phansidewa.
The meeting was attended by the District Magistrate, GTA officials, SDO, and senior officials and representatives from various Government Departments.
At the behest of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari comprehensive review of ongoing development works across the district was done. The participants laid emphasis on improving coordination between the various levels of administration and elected representatives to ensure a faster, transparent, and people-centric implementation of government projects.
‘During the discussions, we highlighted several important public concerns, including development of infrastructure, roads and civic facilities for locals and tourists. We further discussed on improving healthcare and medical services, school and higher education related issues, provisioning of drinking water to every household, improving solid waste management systems, taking steps to easing traffic jams and ensuring cleaner and healthier cities and towns. We further discussed the issues concerning rehabilitation of landslide and disaster victims, we also discussed ways to ensuring that all genuine beneficiaries receive government schemes and included in the various welfare programs they may be eligible for. We further discussed tea garden and cinchona garden related issues such as non-payment of PF and gratuity. The need for the formation of the DISHA Committee, proper utilisation of Panchayat funds, rising drug-related concerns, illegal land encroachment, and the serious issue of women and child trafficking were among those discussed,said MP Bista.
‘It was resolved that regular review meetings will be conducted between departments and elected representatives to strengthen accountability and improve delivery on the ground.This meeting reflects our collective resolve for “Development with Integrity” and our shared commitment towards a cleaner, safer, healthier, drugs-free, crime-free and corruption-free Darjeeling and Siliguri, ‘ added MP Raju Bista further.
