- GANGTOK:30th Sept:BJP Sikkim Delegation Met Labour Department Officials .They Urged safeguarding Article 371F and Sikkim’s Special Constitutional Rights.
A high-level delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sikkim unit visited the Department of Labour, Government of Sikkim, to hold comprehensive discussions on central welfare schemes and urge the protection of Sikkim’s constitutional safeguards during state-level policy formulation.
( Observers say it could be happening due to new Labour laws coming up and fear of not having Old Laws ).
The BJP delegation comprised State Secretary cum Labour Front Incharge Sangay Pulger, Labour Front President B. B. Subba, and State Spokesperson Sangay Gyatso Bhutia.
During their visit, the delegation met with Bhim Thatal, Secretary of the Labour Department. Following this, an in-depth official meeting was conducted in the office of the Labour Commissioner ,Shiromani Neopaney, Labour Commissioner, and Sonam Pintso Lepcha , Deputy Commissioner of the Labour Department.
Detailed deliberations were held regarding the implementation and maximum utilization of welfare schemes and financial incentives announced by the Government of India for the labor force including the e-sharam and the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) scheme.
The Core focus centered on the new Labour Codes announced by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India and the pros and the cons of the National Career Service platform and the Employment Guidance and Promotion Center (EGPC).
The BJP delegation apprised departmental authorities that any new act, regulation, or administrative guideline framed under national schemes must not infringe upon or dilute the special provisions guaranteed to Sikkim under Article 371F of the Constitution of India.
Responding to the delegation’s concerns, departmental officials assured the BJP team that the Labour Department is working in close coordination and is in constant touch with the Law Department and other relevant state authorities. The department affirmed that it is carefully reviewing all legal aspects to ensure compliance with constitutional provisions while relaying these necessary state-specific insights directly to the Ministry of Labour, Government of India.
The BJP believes that the unique identity and constitutional rights of Sikkim rely heavily on the protection of old laws preserved under Article 371F, and appeals to the Government of Sikkim to protect these safeguards at all cost,’as per the communique issued by the Spokesperson Sangay Gyatso Bhutia.
