Siliguri :22nd Aug: ‘A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah,here today , in the presence of MP Darjeeling Raju Bista and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to deliberate on a Permanent Political Solution to the long-pending aspirations of the people of our Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars region.’
‘They discussed practical, concrete and actionable steps to address the long-standing aspirations and legitimate concerns of the people of the region, with a shared commitment to achieving a just, lasting and dignified resolution.’
‘Union Home Minister ,Amit Shah reiterated the Government of India’s firm and unwavering commitment to addressing these issues. He assured us that, under the decisive and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every sincere and possible effort will be made to address the legitimate aspirations of the people of the region and to secure a meaningful and enduring political resolution’.
A broad understanding has been reached today that the Permanent Political Solution (PPS) will be firmly anchored within the framework of the Constitution of India. It will ensure that the solution is strong and capable of addressing the aspirations of the people.
The government has today appointed a High-level Committee under the Chairmanship of Pankaj Kumar Singh to prepare the comprehensive framework of the proposed solution, marking an important step forward in this long-pending process.
According to MP Bista ‘,a just and durable settlement will lay the foundation for long-lasting peace, political stability and social harmony in the region. It will create an environment of confidence and certainty, and ensure that the region’s rich identity, culture and aspirations are respected and protected.’
‘Most importantly, a lasting political solution will bring an end to decades of uncertainty and provide our future generations with an opportunity to live with dignity, peace and prosperity. It will open a new chapter of development and cooperation, where the energies of our people can be channelled towards building a stronger, more prosperous and more secure region, fully integrated with the aspirations and progress of a New India,’ added Bista.
