Gangtok:17th Aug:’ BJP Sikkim’s stand on Online Single Window Integrated Permit System , has been highlighted by Spokesperson Passang G Sherpa, here today. ‘ It looks good at the first Instance,to have all the work done in one place.The proposed Artificial Intelligence ( AI) driven transport system in a sensitive State like Sikkim,needs to be owned by Govt to be on the safe side and not with pvt companies,as is being reported.’
‘If its outsourced to third party data of State will not be safe.That would be an encroachment on the right of State.Question is how much percentage will the pvt companies pay to Govt? They might sell data about tourists ,vehicles and everything on culmination of agreement.’
‘We in Sikkim are dependent on Tourism Industry,as our cash crop large cardamom is no longer flourishing,not are people much involved in agriculture.So,in the interest of Drivers and all other tourism stakeholders fee for destinations like Tsongmu, Baba Mandir, Nathula Lachen , Lachung and other places should not be too much. It will be preferable if around Rs 50/100, ‘ said Passang, addressing the media at BJP office. He expressed doubts that if too much of increase is there vehicle rate will also increase.He pointed out how earlier on getting complaints centre has written to State about it.
According to Spokesperson ,BJP Sikkim requests the Govt not to outsource Geo fencing,keep their own rights not to increase permit fee at a high rate while going on with ISWPS.’
Finally the party will take down to streets and even resort to judiciary if the above mentioned rights are given up and decision to that effect taken in the meeting on 18th Aug.
