Gangtok:13th July: Chief Minister PS Tamang attended 212th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Pioneer Poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya,all the way at Soreng,West Sikkim.CM ,said it was not if it would be a problem for him but all he considers is the ways and means it would benefit the public.So this time the celebrations have been held in Soreng distt and the public here is there.All the district s need to be made active.He announced that next year (213th) Anniversary celebrations will be held in Pakyong distt.Soreng and Pakyong are the distts carved out after SKM assumed power.CM urged the concerned to start working to make Pakyong active commercially.
CM said celebrations of birth anniversary of the poet is not a mere commemoration,but its also to honour the (Nepali) language.Langiage is voice of prezent and future.
If Nepali language is strengthened orher languages will not wither.Their place , honour remains intact. Varity of communities in the State are all united into one Sikkim.
CM announced an award of 3 Lakhs to be given for translating of world famous books into Nepali,he encouraged youth to do this .As this will be knowledgeable for them and will lead to mastering the language also.
CM recollected recognition of Nepali language in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution and huge conteibution of late NB Bhandari the then CM and the then MP Mrs Dil Kumari .He enumerated the activities going on for promotion and preservation of 5he language in the State as well as other languages simultaneously.
CM urged the youth/ students to start reading at least one book monthly in Nepali .He said English connects the world but Nepali is our soul.
He ,further ‘ called upon everyone to celebrate Bhanu Jayanti not only as a festival of the Nepali language but also as a celebration of Sikkimese harmony, unity, and our shared cultural heritage.’
