Gangtok:17th April: Sikkim CM PS Tamang has said, ‘I am deeply disheartened that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam could not be passed in the Lok Sabha despite the hopes and aspirations of millions of women across our country.’
‘Today morning, across Sikkim, our mothers, sisters, and daughters came together in large numbers, raising their voices in support of this historic reform. Their unity reflected a powerful belief in equality, dignity, and representation.’
‘The Opposition is indulging in ruthless politics. They are obstructing women’s reservation because they know who will get the credit for bringing in the Women’s Reservation Bill.’2
They will face the wrath of the women of this country for their actions.
It is unfortunate that such a transformative opportunity has been stalled due to political considerations. This is not just a missed opportunity, it is a setback to the dreams of countless women who seek their rightful place in decision-making.
Despite this, we remain committed. The voice of women cannot be suppressed, and their aspirations will continue to guide us towards a more just and empowered India.
