Sikkim State Christian Sports Committee all set to hold Gold Cup Football Tournament from 5th Oct – President Patrick Pradhan
Gangtok: 16th Sept: : Sikkim Christian Sports Committee,is all set to organise Gold Cup Football Tournament,here.President of the Committee announced in a Curtain Raiser to the First ever Gold Cup Football by the SSC, ‘ Opening ceremony will be held in the evening with flood lights,Paljor Stadium.
‘The event started from 2024 at the behest of Chief Minister PS Tamang ,who had suggested organising it in a grand way not only as the Football Tournament ,but Gold Cup Football .We will be having participants from Kalimpong,Darjeeling also.Even players from Nepal and Bhutan will be there.’
Patrick added, ‘We are going to include 5 non-believers also.Out of them 3 would be playing .All the Churches have requested for match to be played between them. So it has been decided to have an Exhibition match for above 40 years of age. There will be 8 teams for it. Exhibition match entry will be free ,no payment required.
P T .Lepcha Secretary said ,’The Gold Cup FB Tournament will go on from 5th October to 19th.Inbetween cultural presentations would be there .Local Pipe band will be invited as usual. Other artists ,prominent singers include Edwin Dewan,Kuber Rai and others.
Pastor Samuel Subba treasurer said, ‘The lucrative prizes include Rs 5 Lakhs for the Winners and 3 Lakhs for the runners up.’ he was joined by Dinesh Tamang Publicity Secy to Committee
The Committee expressed gratitude to CM PS Tamang,Health Minister GT Dhungel ,MLA LN Sharma and Jacob Khaling Political Secy to CM.
