Officiating VC Sikkim University Dr Jyoti Prakash Tamang no more: former CM PK Chamling condoles
Former CM PK Chamling has conveyed his condolence message saying,’ I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Jyoti Prakash Tamang, Officiating Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim University and a well known figure in the field of food microbiology. He breathed his last at Siliguri this morning. He was 60 years of age.’
‘Dr. Tamang’s pioneering research on ethnic fermented foods and beverages of the Himalayan regions and beyond has left an indelible mark on the scientific community and enriched our understanding of traditional knowledge systems.’
‘A dedicated scholar and academic leader, Dr. Tamang also served in various key capacities including as Senior Professor of Microbiology, Registrar, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, and Officiating Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim University.’
‘His loss is not only a profound one for the university but for the entire state. My thoughts are with his family, colleagues, students, and all who mourn his passing. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to guide and inspire’.
