CM Attends Indrajatra Festival of Newars

CM said , ‘Indrajatra is not merely a religious festival; it is a celebration of the Newar community’s rich culture, traditions and identity. Its message of faith, respect and togetherness is deeply relevant to our diverse and harmonious Sikkim.’

‘The Newar community has made an invaluable contribution to Sikkim’s history and development from administration, agriculture and trade to public service, sports, art and culture.’

‘From the historic Taksari tradition to the highest levels of public service, and from the Olympics to Mount Everest, the community has added many proud chapters to Sikkim’s story. I extend my sincere respect and gratitude for this enduring contribution.’

‘Our government remains committed to the long-standing demand for the inclusion of the remaining 12 communities in the Scheduled Tribe list. The ethnographic study has been completed, the report has moved forward, and the State Government and Legislative Assembly have extended their support. This is not a party issue; it is a matter concerning our people, and we must pursue it together, rising above political differences,’added CM.

‘Sikkim’s greatest strength is its unity in diversity. We must never allow communal politics, rumours or divisive forces to weaken this foundation.
