Gangtok:6th Aug: ‘Tendong Lho Rum Fat ,is a very significant festival and is connected to nature as also love for it.We need to love nature,by ensuring our environment is not polluted,kept clean,we should not litter here and there.Use of plastic should not be done,’ said Minister RDD,Arun Upreti.He was addressing the gathering at Ridge Park,particularly youngsters celebrating Tendong festival.He was accompanied by MLAs Pamin Lepcha ,Dilay Namgyal , former Legislatorr OT Lepcha , CM’s Additional Political Secretary Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha .DC Rohan Agwaney also was present.Today it was the 3rd day of the third season of Yongthoon.
Upreti added further, ‘ We should not forget our roots even if we get modernised,using gazets ,internet and the rest of devices.Nature is important for us if nature is not there we also wont be there.We should all together celebrate Tendong festival,as CM says it is not only the fest of Lepchas but it belongs to all of us.It is the worship of Tendong mountain and nature’.Earlier he worshiped the replica of Mount Tendong in the traditional way and was followed by other VIPs also .
Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha,Additional Political Secy to CM PS Tamang,interacting said ‘ All are appealed to join on 7th at Ridge Park for the special celebrations We will initiate the process to enter Lepcha musical instrument with GI Tag,will in the Guiness book of records. It is the only old traditional instrumentwith ten persons left having knowledge about it.’He said the instrument is called Tungbok,and the theme of the open market here is also the same.
Tendong festival will be celebrated on 8th August,the Yongthoom –Open Mart put up by Lepchas heralds the TLRFat .The programme was marked by Lepcha songs and dances.The open mart has 30 stalls.
