
Coordination Meeting of SKM focusses on Preparation for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Visit
Gangtok,12th Oct : ‘Under the direction and guidance of the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), a coordination meeting was convened at Chautara Hotel, Gangtok. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister G.T. Dhungel in preparation for the forthcoming visit of the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah. The primary objective of the meeting was to streamline preparations and ensure the successful execution of events scheduled during the Home Minister’s two-day visit to Sikkim on 25th and 26th October 2025’,according to Political Secretary to CM cum Spokesperson SKM,Bikash Basnet
‘The meeting witnessed the participation of several key dignitaries, including Secretary General SKM cum Minister Arun Upreti, Advisor to HCM Bishnu Prasad Khatiwada, MLAs and Advisors Samdup Tshering Bhutia and Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, Political Secretary to HCM i Bikash Basnet, Deputy Mayor cum Nari Shakti Vice President In-Charge Smt. Tshering Palden Bhutia, Nari Shakti Vice President Smt. Sara Lama, SKM Youth Vice Presidents
Sahadeo Sharma and Naren Shrestha, along with Advisors, Chairpersons, OSDs, executives of the SKM Headquarter, executives, and members of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha.
‘The Union Home Minister is scheduled to arrive in Gangtok on 25th October, where he will be accorded a grand and heartfelt welcome by the people of Sikkim. In a celebration of unity and diversity, communities from across the state will come together to present a vibrant cultural showcase that reflects the rich traditions, customs, and heritage of Sikkim’s multiethnic society’.
‘Folk music, traditional dances, and indigenous attire from various communities will be systematically presented as a gesture of unity, respect, and celebration. The cultural presentations aim to not only honour the esteemed guest but also to proudly highlight the harmonious coexistence of communities in Sikkim.’
‘On 26th October, Amit Shah will travel to Rhenock, where he is scheduled to launch the Vibrant Villages Programme. Detailed planning and coordination are in progress to ensure that all events during the visit are conducted with precision, dignity, and cultural richness. The coordination meeting emphasized the need for seamless execution, community participation, and security preparedness.’
