Gangtok, Celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Statehood,many significant issues were discussed by panelists.One of them Secretary Commerce & Industries,Karma Youtso the only lady.panelist talked about the Industrial Act.And what the State is focusing on.
‘We want to focus on food processing.There are people interested in it.A unit of food processing has already been opened in the premises of Sikkim Food Preservation Factory.’
When questioned if the F.P Factory will be privatized? She said ,’As of now we dont think it should be privatized and we have new projects coming up Since the time of Chogyal factory has been there.It was started in 1958,we have been trying to revive it and have cleared some of the litigation that they had.
Secretary referred to ‘Sikkim’s roadshows in Mumbai,and cities as part of the North East Trade and Investment Roadshow,initiated by DoNer Ministry.Fuether she said, ‘We have provided single window facility.At least 22 projects to the tune of few Thousand Crores are likely .We have been looking at sustainability,more investors are coming.
Sikkim ‘s focus on Creative Economy was also discussed.About State -Centre relations,she very confidently said that ‘ present CM ( PS Tamang) being a popular figure,Sikkim has good relations with Centre as well as the DoNer.
