Gangtok :25th April: CM PS Tamang wishing all Vets has said ,’On the occasion of World Veterinary Day, observed on the last Saturday of April every year, I extend my heartiest greetings to all veterinarians.’
Veterinary professionals play a vital role in ensuring animal health and welfare, enhancing livestock productivity, and strengthening rural livelihoods. Their contribution is also crucial in safeguarding public health and ensuring food safety for our communities.
Working tirelessly, often in remote and challenging conditions, veterinarians continue to serve farmers and livestock rearers with dedication and compassion. Their efforts significantly contribute to the overall development of the livestock sector and the rural economy.
‘I urge all veterinarians to continue their noble service with renewed commitment and passion. Your work is not just a profession, but a mission that directly impacts the lives of farmers and the wellbeing of our society.’
‘Your expertise, resilience, and compassion are the driving forces behind a healthier livestock sector and a stronger rural economy.
The Government stands firmly with you in your efforts and remains committed to providing the necessary support and resources.
I would also like to highlight the importance of conserving our indigenous livestock breeds, particularly the Siri cattle, which are well adapted to local climatic conditions and play a significant role in sustaining traditional farming systems. Continued efforts towards the conservation and genetic improvement of such native breeds are essential for preserving biodiversity and ensuring long-term sustainability of the livestock sector.’
‘On this day, I express my deep appreciation for the invaluable service rendered by the veterinary Doctors and encourage them to continue their dedicated work with excellence and compassion’,CM added.
