Gangtok:26th May: The President of India’s landing at Libing helpad ,was a sense of relief to all concerned worried about the weather issues. But, she experienced Sikkim rain subsequently.
President Droupdi Murmu ,was welcomed at the helipad,followed by after reaching Lok Bhawan,by Governor OP Mathur ,CM PS Tamang and Mrs Krishna Rai.
Madam President,visited Namgyal Institute of Tibetology , founded by the Namgyal dynasty and opened by the then PM of India Jawaharlal Nehru in 1958.Governor of Sikkim, who is also President of NIT was present , joined by CM. President Murmu was conducted around the repository of rare old Manuscripts and copies ,by the Director NIT Passang D Phenpo. She also saw artefacts section , consisting of items brought from Tibet to preserve in 50’s.
Next to it President visited Orchidarium at Swarna Jayanti Maitriya Manjari.She was happy to see indigenous Orchids , including Cymbidium Na Mo , named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
President Murmu is scheduled to visit Nathula pass on Wednesday,(however, IMD has predicted rainfall 78-9 am in some parts ) and address 7th Covocation of Sikkim ( Central) University later in the evening in Gangtok.
Final and the most awaited event is going to be presentation of President’s Colours to Sikkim Police on Thursday, also known as ‘Rashtrapati ka Nishan’, consiting of a Special flag to symbolise it.
