Gangtok,Chief Minister,PS Tamang,also the Leader of the House,while proposing Vote of Thanks,on the culmination of 4 day long Annual Budget session ’25, said his Govt ( from 2019 -24,2024- onwards) is poor oriented.
‘The Second session ,part-2,of the 11 assembly ,is dedicated to the public,’ said According to him the General Budget 2025-26 passed on Friday will serve the welfare of people,economic growth with other areas .
CM was pleased to put on record the reduced rate of poverty .’Only 2.6% of people are Below Poverty Level ( BPL).This will be reduced further,as we are always looking for ways and means to help out the poor’,said CM Tamang on the floor of the House .
- The Govt has CM’s Assistance scheme.Out of it deserving poor students are provided funds for higher studies and Vocational/ Professional trainings.Highlighting CMAS ,CM disclosed that Rs 4 Crores + have been spent on students studying abroad.Students within the State are provided Rs 5 Thousand each if they are studying in other Districts away from home town.
- Present State Govt has been funding a number of MBBS students in Manipal Tadung.CM Tamang has been using his ‘Discretionary fund’ also for helping those who can’t afford,even for treatment purposes.
- CM also enumerated schemes particularly: ‘Aama,Vatsalya,Bahini,Mero Rukh Mero Santati,Mero Rukh Mero Bato implemented for the upliftment of society and conservation of environment respectively.
- CM spoke about health facilities and announced that Kidney transplantation wing will be set up in State itself so that patients can get treatment easily.
- CM PS Tamang,in his down to Earth attitude said, he feels for have nots / poor due to his experience.’ I wanted to go for MBA studies but had to take up teaching instead due to—! ‘ He got emotional while recollecting the event with watery eyes ! (It was a very touching moment ).
Finally ,CM Tamang thanked all in his brief Vote of thanks of 40 minutes ,( shortest ever) for successful Budget session , having worked for passing the Rs 16196 crores budget.
