Gangtok:26th April: MP Darjeeling,Raju Bista and North East coordinator ,S.Patra MP visited Lagstal, a beautiful design studio in Sikkim,( name derived from the combination of two Bhutia words, Lag – Hand + Stal – Skill, reflects the spirit of skilled hand-craftsmanship).MPs are in Gangtok for PM Narendra Modi’s visit on 27th April.
‘Chime Ongmu Bhutia’s Lagstal has become a place where tradition and creativity come alive together. Her commitment to sustainability is truly admirable. Every product is made with care using traditional techniques, natural and eco-friendly Bamboo, and zero-waste methods that respect both nature and our mountain cultural heritage,’ according to MP Bista.
‘What touched me most was seeing how she is creating opportunities for local women artisans by turning traditional skills into meaningful livelihoods, while also preserving the identity and soul of Sikkim. Places like Lagstal show the true strength and beauty of the Northeast’,MP added.
MP said , ‘Thank you, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, for encouraging and highlighting such talented individuals from Sikkim and across the Northeast through “Mann ki Baat” today. Your support is helping these changemakers grow and ensuring our traditional crafts continue to thrive in today’s world.’
