
Gangtok: 5th Oct.MP Darjeeling Raju Bista has rushed to the natural calamity affected areas in Mirik and others.He is travelling to the disaster impacted areas across the region, and visited Dudhey under Mirik sub-division today.
‘Among all the places impacted by disaster, Mirik sub-division has been most severely impacted, with 11 deaths confirmed so far. The Dudhey bridge, that connects Mirik valley to Siliguri has been shut down for traffic. A large number of homes have been damaged, some completely and some partially along the Dudhey, Panighatta, Pankhabari belt,’according to MP.
‘I am in constant touch with the Hon’ble Home Minister, Home Ministry Officials, and the Prime Minister’s Office. The devastation in our region is being monitored at the highest level, and the Central Government will be providing all possible help to assist the victims,’ said MP Bista.
MP has thanked all the first respondents ‘in this time of crisis’ . He has added ‘ The youths from our region, community members, volunteers, police and administrative officials, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) jawans who are working tirelessly for search and rescue, and disaster response. It is because of their collective and selfless dedicated services that many lives have been saved.’
‘I share my heartfelt condolences with the families of those, who have died in this tragedy. We mourn all of your loss and keep you in our prayers. I share my best wishes and prayers for the early recovery of those, who are injured,’said MP Raju Bista.
During this natural disaster, we will work with all our strength to ensure aid reaches the affected people. I also call upon all our alliance partners and other political and social organizations to coordinate efforts in rescue and relief operations so that we can provide timely assistance to the victims.
