Missing Person has been found Dead at Rongli Zero under Rhenock Police Station
Rhenock 30th Nov: ‘ On November 29, approximately 3:15 PM, a missing diary report was received from Jog Bdr. Chettri, residing at Lower Tarpin, Rhenock. The report indicated that his father, Indra Bdr. Chettri, aged 82, had been missing from their residence since 6:00 PM on November 28, 2025’-. Consequently, a missing diary report was recorded.
Subsequently, the police and local residents conducted an extensive search in the surrounding areas, including forest trails and pathways. During the search, suspicion arose that the missing person may have accidentally fallen from the cliff near Rongli zero. However, due to the steep terrain and limited visibility, the area could not be thoroughly searched.
On November 30, 2025, a drone was utilized for aerial reconnaissance, resulting in the identification of a body approximately 70 meters from the road. A team comprising police and local residents safely accessed the location and recovered the deceased body. With due precautions, the body was transported to the roadside, where it was identified by the family members.
Subsequently, at Rhenock Police Station Under Investigation (PS UI) case FIR No. 12/2025, dated July 27, 2025, was registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
Upon requisition, the BDO, Rhenock conducted an inquest over the body, adhering to all legal procedures. Subsequently, the deceased’s body was forwarded to Singtam District Hospital for autopsy.
No foul play has been detected at this time. The case remains under investigation. Notably, the assistance provided by Joseph Lepcha, utilizing his drone, significantly contributed to the location and recovery of the body from an otherwise inaccessible terrain.
