Gangtok:16th April The supply and distribution of LPG cylinders in Sikkim remains steady, with the current backlog restricted to just 1.46 days, ensuring timely delivery to consumers across the State.
The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, in coordination with the State Government and LPG distributors, continues to monitor supply lines closely to prevent disruptions. Adequate LPG stocks are being maintained at bottling plants and godowns to meet household demand.
The total pending LPG bookings in Sikkim as on date stands at 5,284. Against this, the average daily delivery is 3,618 cylinders. With this pace of delivery, the overall backlog translates to only 1.46 days, informed a senior IOCL officer, reflecting efficient last-mile supply chain management.
Emphasizing the need for cooking gas among students, migrant labourers, and other temporary residents who are unable to obtain regular LPG connections and do not possess LPG passbooks, 5 Kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders have been made available at selected LPG distributors and agencies in Gangtok district also.
Moreover, concerned State officials are regularly publishing the next day’s LPG cylinder distribution schedule for various areas through electronic and digital platforms to ensure maximum public awareness and enable consumers to plan accordingly.
The Government has urged citizens to refrain from panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG, as all necessary measures are being taken to ensure uninterrupted availability of these essential fuels. The public is advised to remain vigilant against rumours and to rely only on official sources for accurate information. LPG consumers are requested to use digital booking platforms for refills and avoid unnecessary visits to distributors. As a prudent measure, citizens are also encouraged to adopt alternate fuels such as electric or induction cooktops wherever feasible. All residents are further urged to practice energy conservation in their daily activities during the current situation, as per PIB Gangtok communique today.
