Gangtok:18th June: The Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking has been confirmed as a crisis, country is now aspiring to achieve ‘Nasha Mukta Bharat’,(NMBA) with the active involvement of the States. Sikkim is no exemption to it.
The NMBA -Sikkim pledge week is now going on , from 17th June ,it will be culminating on 26th June. In the series Additional Director, Social Justice and Welfare Deptt, Govt of Sikkim, Mahesh Sharma, visited Jagriti Drug De-addiction centre,( NGO under ASHI), Sichey. Under his guidance the 15 inpatients of centre were administered ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat- Sikkim Shapath’ ( pledge) by Senior Counsellor Bharati Dewan . They were joined by the Project Director Mangalmit Lepcha and staff also.
Additional Director explained the need to pledge. He highlighted they should not only get rid of drug abuse but after returning home should ensure that others also keep distance from drug abuse and spread awareness.
All the Rehabilitation centres in the State are expected to be taking Nasha Mukta Bharat-Sikkim Pledge by 26th June ( full week time) till the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking,it has been informed.
