Gangtok:30th July :Bharatiya Janata Party, Sikkim, SC Morcha expresses deep concern over the reported custodial death of Purne Darji at Singtam Police Station.
Every custodial death is a matter of serious concern and deserves a fair, transparent and impartial investigation to ascertain the facts and uphold the rule of law. BJP Sikkim SC Morcha urges the competent authorities to ensure that all relevant evidence, including CCTV footage and other records, is preserved and that the investigation is conducted strictly in accordance with the provisions of law and the applicable guidelines governing custodial deaths.
The party extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and hopes that the truth is established at the earliest through a credible and unbiased inquiry, thereby reinforcing public confidence in the justice system,’said Bhopal Baraily, President SC Morcha, BJP Sikkim.
However ,it is pertinent to mention here that Singtam & Distt. Police is doing everything as per the law so far. Crime Branch / CID. AlI electronic records, CCTV footage, custody registers, and lock-up documentation have been seized and preserved.
An Unnatural Death Case has been registered at Singtam Police Station vide UD Case No.
25(07)2026 dated 29 July 2026 under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha
Sanhita, 2023, and investigation is under way under an officer independent of the officers
previously handling the base case.
