Gangtok :17th July : All India Media Conference was held at International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), Dwarka, New Delhi,today.
As per information from CEO Sikkim, Media Team from Sikkim attended the day-long All India Media Conference – 2026, held at the conference hall of the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), Dwarka, New Delhi. Participants from Sikkim were:
– Ms.Kabita Sharma, Sikkim Chronicles
– Mr.Amber Gurung, Himali Darpan
– Mr.Dilli Ram Dulal, AIR/ Himali Bela.
– Ms.Tshering Lhamu Lepcha, Media Assistant, O/o CEO, Sikkim.
The inaugural session was chaired by Shri Rakesh Kumar Verma, Director General (IIIDEM), along with Shri Ashish Goyal, Director General (Media), Dr. Seema Khanna, Director General (IT), Shri Vijay Kumar Pandey, Deputy Director General (Law), and Shri Apurva Kumar Singh, Deputy Director (Media).
Presentations were delivered on the following topics:
1. Connecting Stakeholders, Strengthening Democracy: The Role of Media in Elections
2. Know the ECINet Platform and the Role of Technology in Elections
3. Important Constitutional Provisions and Laws: Recent Judgments and Orders
A detailed briefing on the Preparation of Electoral Rolls, Polling Process, and Counting Process was delivered by the Deputy Director (Media). A parallel quiz session was also conducted in the auditorium, where participants were divided into groups for an interactive demonstration on Electoral Rolls, the Polling Process, and the Counting Process.
The post-lunch session was chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner, Shri Gyanesh Kumar, followed by an interactive Question and Answer session with participants.
The conference provided an insightful platform for media professionals to enhance their understanding of the electoral process, legal framework, technological advancements, and the crucial role of the media in strengthening democratic values.
