29th Aug: CM PS Tamang greets all those associated with Sports & others in the State. He has said ,’On the occasion of National Sports Day, 2026, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to the sportspersons, coaches, sports enthusiasts and the people of Sikkim’.
This day commemorates the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, whose extraordinary talent, discipline, dedication and unparalleled contribution to Indian hockey earned him a place among the greatest sporting icons of our nation. I pay my humble tribute to this sporting legend and salute his enduring legacy.
National Sports Day reminds us that sports are not merely about competition and victory; they are about discipline, perseverance, teamwork, resilience and the pursuit of excellence. Sports also play a vital role in nurturing healthy minds, building confident youth and fostering unity and a strong sense of national pride.
Sikkim has immense sporting potential, and our Government remains committed to creating better opportunities, infrastructure and platforms for our young athletes to discover their talent and excel at the state, national and international levels.
On this occasion, let us reaffirm our commitment to making sports an integral part of our lives and inspire our youth to embrace fitness, discipline and the spirit of sportsmanship.
My best wishes to all on National Sports Day. Let us play, stay fit and strive for excellence.
Jai Hind!
