Ladakh,22nd July: Marking the Golden Jubilee of Sikkim Statehood, the endurance team “Magical 4” having commenced the third phase of its landmark Sikkim Statehood Golden Jubilee Commemoration Run, informed about an extraordinary high-altitude expedition celebrating the spirit of Sikkim while promoting endurance, environmental awareness, and national integration.
The Magical 4 comprises Anup J. Baniya, Basant Pradhan, Bhupendra Hang Subba, and Luv Burman, with dedicated logistical and operational support from Arjun Shakya.
The commemorative expedition has been planned in four phases, of which two phases have already been successfully completed. The ongoing third phase is the most challenging segment of the expedition and involves running over 600 kilometres from Khardung La to Umling La, traversing eight of India’s highest motorable mountain passes. The route passes through some of the world’s most inhospitable terrain, with elevations exceeding 5,000 metres, demanding exceptional physical endurance, meticulous planning, and unwavering determination.
The expedition was ceremonially flagged off from Khardung La by Dr. Sklzang Dorjee K.K., State Spokesperson, BJP Ladakh, and former Chairman, Block Development Council, Leh, who appreciated the team’s remarkable initiative and wished them success in accomplishing this unique feat.
The commemorative run is dedicated to the 50 years of Sikkim Statehood and seeks to inspire youth through the values of perseverance, discipline, courage, and environmental responsibility. It also highlights the majestic Himalayan landscape while fostering national integration and strengthening the spirit of civil-military cooperation in the border regions through which the expedition passes.
The team expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim for his encouragement and support towards this unique initiative commemorating the Golden Jubilee of Sikkim Statehood.
Upon successful completion of all four phases, the expedition will stand as one of India’s most remarkable endurance achievements, showcasing the indomitable spirit of Sikkim and its people while inspiring future generations to dream big and embrace challenges with determination.
