Gangtok:24th May: While Sikkim Express celebrates its Golden Jubilee , annual Ram Patro Memorial Awards were given away today at a local hotel. Chief Guest Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa , joined by the Additional Political Secretary to CM Wangchuck Lepcha and Chairperson Awards Committee Mala Rana Patro presented the awards to Copy Editor Sikkim Express , Sarika Atreya, Amber Gurung, Bureau Chief Himalaya Darpan and Tek Bahadur Gurung Layout Designer respectively.
Chief Guest, Raj Kumari Thapa , addressing the gathering stated that the Journalists should always verify the information then let it get published. She endorsed the ideas expressed by awardees regarding challenges in the profession and its significance.’Thapa lamented not many females taking up journalism.And congratulated the Express media house for their wonderful past and present.
Awardees also shared their experience ,including Sarika Atreya and Amber Gurung.
Ex CS AK Shrivastava and Mrs Shrivastava were also present.
Earlier,Editor Sikkim Express Amit Patro welcomed the_guests.He said the awards were instituted in the name of late Ram, carry forward his lagacy and motivate young dynamics journalists in Sikkim from 1995 onwards.
