Gangtok:22nd May: ‘NHAI has signed an MoU with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), Norway, to strengthen technical expertise in the development of safe, sustainable, and world-class National Highway infrastructure,’according to NHAI source.
The collaboration will focus on advanced consultancy support in tunnel engineering, slope stability analysis, monitoring of slopes, hazard mitigation, and institutional capacity building, particularly for infrastructure projects in geologically sensitive and challenging terrains.
Under the partnership, NGI will support feasibility studies, DPR preparation, tunnel safety assessments, slope monitoring, and development of early warning systems using advanced technologies, including InSAR data analysis.
The MoU also emphasizes knowledge exchange through joint workshops, training programs, research initiatives, and technical collaboration aimed at enhancing engineering capabilities across the highway sector.
